Weekends are for sleeping in, right? Wrong! Not when the farmers market comes to town!
Moses Lake kicked off its market season at McCosh Park the first Saturday in May, and will be open each Saturday until October, 8 am. to 1 pm. Even in May there was plenty going on at the MLFM to make attendees happy. I made Anita’s Strawberry Spinach salad from Mark’s Organic Produce and strawberries brought to the market from our neighbors in Oregon. Whoever Anita is (my mom found her recipe somewhere on-line), thank you, your salad is delicious – I even had meat and potato farm boys eat it up! I paired the salad with pork chops from Block 40, marinated in homemade applesauce with apples from Pheasant Orchards, and a yummy chilled Rosé from Michael’s Bistro.
Also available at the market this early in the season are Ronna’s Pies, fresh Kettle Corn, St. Brigid’s bottled brews, all kinds of plants for your garden, wood crafts (I love giving unique pens as gifts, and you can find one-of-a-kind lathe-made pens at the market!), and more! It’s never too early to find great stuff at the market.
What are your favorite finds at the market? Share you pics with us here on fb, or email them to [email protected].
